Geelong coach Chris Scott says he has told the club leaders to handle their new roles in thier own way and not try to copy retired skipper Joel Selwood.

“It would be very, very difficult, if not impossible, to replace him like for like,” Scott told Fox Footy.

“But we have done work to empower our leaders and have them be themselves.

“Joel has been so good at representing our club, being the public face of our club and the thing we have focused on with your leaders is to be themselves and lead in their own way.

“It’s an opportunity for the others to represent the club and be authentic to themselves.”

Selwood is due to do a lap of the MCG tonight after his post grand final retirement and he also led a march to the ground for Cats fans.
